Loving-Kindness Meditation

Sit comfortably with your back straight or

if you prefer it is one of the few practices you

can do lying down.

‚Äč

-Relax your shoulders

-Gently close your eyes

-Let your body settle down

-Takes some deep breaths until you feel a sense of peace

-Bring your attention to your heart

-Imagine a warm white orb emanating from your heart

-Feel the light from the orb over your body whilst mentally repeating:

“May I be well, may I be happy, may things go well for me”

Allow this loving kindness to enter every aspect of your being, exposed or hidden, superficial or deep.

 

Next repeat the process with loved ones, family and close friends.

-Imagine the white light enveloping them

-Mentally repeat the following:

“May you all be well, may you all be happy, may things go well for you”

 

Now repeat the process for colleagues and relative strangers.

-Imagine the light enveloping them, the houses and streets around you, your neighbourhood or your town or city.

-Mentally repeat the following:

“May you all be well, may you all be happy, may things go well for you”

 

Finally repeat the process for the whole world, every living thing.

-Imagine the white light that has emanated from your heart enveloping the whole world.

-Mentally repeat:

“May you all be well, may you all be happy, may all things go well for you”.

 

When you are ready bring the feeling of loving-kindness back to your being and then back to the present moment.
