Muse is a brain sensing headband that makes meditation easier. Meditation has been proven to reduce stress and increase focus, but it can be hard to know if you’re doing it right. Muse provides you with real-time audio feedback on what’s happening in your brain when you meditate, letting you know when your mind wanders and teaching you to regain focus. Think of Muse as your personal guide to meditation as you journey toward a calmer and more present self.

Muse is the first product that gives you accurate, real-time EEG feedback making meditation easy to learn, trackable, and fun.

Most people struggle with starting a meditation practice, they worry: Am I doing this right? What should I do next? Why is this so hard? As your personal meditation assistant, Muse helps you track your progress, keep consistent, and stay engaged.

Muse is unique in its ability to provide feedback on a user’s meditation, both prompting the user to focus, while rewarding moments of calm. While you meditate, you’ll hear gentle ocean waves or rainforest rainfall get progressively louder as your mind drifts, signalling you to bring your attention back to your breath. This makes building a consistent practice of focused attention meditation faster, easier, and more enjoyable.

With the free Muse app you can tailor your meditation to suit your needs. Select an immersive soundscape which is an audible environment provides subtle guidance as your brain state shifts from a wandering to a calm and focused state. With the Muse app you can measure your progress, review your data, unlock achievements and learn from expert guest meditators.

The typical trace from a beginner to meditation (below) with large amplitude spike representing high levels of brain activity. See how this compares with the amplitude spikes following a six-week program.

Points are given for remaining in the calm zone. Once mental activity has fallen beyond a certain level, feedback is given in the form of birds tweeting. Occasions when high mental activity is recognised and reigned in is known as a recovery.

With Muse Connect you can not only see personal feedback after every session but you can also upload your brainwave data to our servers (this has no practical risk to your security). This allows us to assess trends in your performance as well as discuss factors that may be affecting your meditation practice. The trend data that we are able to generate is more powerful than delivered on the personal app and can make a big difference to refining ones practice. With the 6-week course, you can expect personal feedback three times per week.
